Now that I've begun menopause, do I need to worry about birth control?

During the perimenopause, when ovarian function is declining, fertility is declining too. With this, you stop ovulating regularly and the quality of the eggs released also declines. That being said, until your periods stop completely you do still ovulate occasionally, and thus could still get pregnant. So you may continue to need birth control until you have completed the transition into menopause.
