I feel like I'm desperately hanging on to my youth, while it's slipping through my fingers. What can I do to accept my inevitable aging?

Letting go of our youth is challenging for everyone. No doubt about that. There are billion-dollar industries that capitalize on this universal yearning to “anti-age.” Yet, hanging on to your youth is a battle you can’t win. In fact, feeling desperate about it all will only make you feel and look older.  Instead of fighting the changes that come with age, it’s helpful to acknowledge that they exist, mourn them and then move on. Sure, your skin may not be as smooth, your hair may be graying, and you may have less energy than you use to. These represent true losses and may make you sad. But, there are benefits to aging as well. We make better choices about things that really matter to us – spending more time with family and friends or engaging in hobbies and passions we care about. Some people say they feel better in their 50s, 60s, and 70s than they did when they were younger. If you focus on what you have and less on what you don’t, you may find yourself feeling more satisfied being just the age you are.
