How does menopause differ for women who have cancer and have to have chemo or hormone suppressing medications?

The symptoms of menopause can be much more intense and are very difficult to manage for women who have had cancer and chemo, or for those who have had to take hormone suppressing medications. Many times menopause can occur at a younger age than usual when these situations occur. Taking hormones, or even some OTC herbs or soy isoflavones, to relieve the common symptoms of hot flashes and night sweats are not an option. In the past, women have been forced to resort to dressing in layers or using fans to cool off.
